Aubergine Presents 'Spiky Profiles and Spiderwebs: Embracing Autistic Creativity' with Lois Arcari,

AUBERGINE CAFE & EVENTS CIC

 | Dec 2020 | &  | June 2021 |

June 2021 - Hosted the 'Spiky Profiles and Spiderwebs: Embracing Autistic Creativity' Workshop.

This workshop introduced attendees to the concept of a 'spiky profile' as a tool for self-reflective empowerment. The event then used this tool - alongside metaphors of 'spiderwebs' and spider mythologies around the world - to establish a reference point for embracing autistic people's unique creative processes and perspectives.

December 2020 - Hosted a workshop on 'Mixed Media Decoupe': Allowing Attendees to explore new artistic mediums and the liberating potential of the intuitive form of mixed media collage.

Towson University Presentation: 'Autistic and Bisexual Identity - Intersections of Invisibility.'

TOWSON UNIVERSITY

April 2021

Invited by Professor Zosia Zaks of Townson University, MD, USA, to develop and present a presentation about intersecting bisexual and autistic identities for the Hussman Center for Adults with Autism.

I adapted my brief to accomodate for the stressful post examination period, opting to create a presentation based on media representation and 'villain coding' of both groups, inspired by the Dreamsounds and Joe Black collaborative video on the topic of villain queer coding and reclaimed empowerment.

LEGACY INTERNATIONAL

| Sept - Oct 2020 | & | Apr - Jun 2021 |

Currently working as a third party freelancer on a project involving Disability Confidence scheme assesment.

Sept - Oct 2020

Wrote a series of 9 Guides for their Enw Project subsidiary, based on the 9 Protected Characteristics in the Equality Act 2010 UK.

These reports went above and beyond the initial remit of transcription for these guides, and evolved to include up-to-date research on law changes regarding issues such as non-binary employees recognised as being covered under the Equality Act in September 2020, as well as including statistics and lived experience in order to highlight the importance of Equality measures, and inform employers about how employees with intersectional identities can be affected in the workplace.
